In the heart of Leyland in Lancashire, a whirlwind of colour, creativity and imagination is bringing alternative style to life. It all began with a blank canvas.
In 2020, like many of us, Jay, the founder of Krorroskos Designs, found herself spending more time at home. For the first time, she had the freedom to decorate her own space, and quickly discovered how limited the options were for bold, colourful decor with an alternative edge. So, she did what every creative spirit dreams of: she made her own.
“I decided to create myself some colourful alternative style decor,” Jay explains. “It was such a hit with my colleagues and friends that I decided to start an Etsy page. It’s all spiralled from there!”
What began as a home decor project has evolved into a thriving business offering everything from handmade jewellery and bookmarks to original designs made entirely from scratch. Nearly five years later, Krorroskos Designs has grown into a vibrant brand loved for its bold personality, unique style and ever-evolving product range.
Krorroskos Designs - A Name with a Quirky Origin
The name ‘Krorroskos’ might sound like something from a fantasy novel, and it turns out, that’s not far off. “It actually came from a random word generator when I was looking for a cool gamertag at 13!” Jay laughs. What started as an online alias has grown into a full-blown brand identity, and honestly, we love the mystery and character it adds.
The Joy of Creative Freedom
One of the best parts of running a handmade business? According to Jay, it’s all about freedom. “I love the freedom to create, and the way I've designed my business means I can change things up and do something different each day,” she says. “It’s given me the space to develop my own style and try out new things.”
That flexible, exploratory mindset shows up in everything she creates. From playful accessories to intricate decor, each piece feels personal, imaginative and completely one-of-a-kind.
When She’s Not Making...
Outside the workshop, Jay is just as hands-on. “I LOVE to cook, and DIY is 100% my jam,” she says. “I like problem-solving and coming up with creative ways to decorate my house.” And when it’s time to unwind? “I spend 99% of my spare time reading fantasy romance books.”
Fun fact: she’s entirely self-taught in almost everything she does. “I’m extremely stubborn and have an incessant need to know everything,” she confesses. “I’ve taught myself to use power tools, 3D model, ride a motorbike... the list is a bit ridiculous, really.”
