Candle Care

Vanilla scented Wild Venus Candle is lit.As Wild Venus bravely ventures into the candle science I feel it's only best to impart some of my wisdom...

How to use your candle:

1) Find a flat surface, put a coaster down, remove nearby flammable things, make sure there are no draughts and it's out of reach from small inquisitive people and pets.

2) Light up.

3) It's all about the first burn, baby.

Burn your candle up to 4 hours on the first burn, or until the melt pool (the part of the wax which has melted) has reached the sides of the glass.

Sometimes if the candle melts only an inner circle of wax, when its extinguished, the next time you light your candle it will have formed a memory of this and continue to tunnel down where this previous ring was made.

However it's possible for the wax to catch up as it works its way down the glass and gets hotter towards the middle and end of the jar.

4) Trim your wick.
Do this after each burn and before re-lighting it again. This is important to stop the flame getting too high, too hot, too erratic and also helps reduce the chances of 'mushrooming' and causing excessive soot.

5) Leave a centimetre of wax at the end of the candle. We recommend leaving the last 1/2 to 1 cm of wax for safety reasons: If there isn't enough wax in the jar to absorb the heat, the container could get too hot!
