Meet the Maker - Christine the Rainbow Yarn Designs Crochet Creations

From the moment you meet Christine (or her work), it’s impossible not to smile. Based in Liverpool and surrounded by a world of colour, creativity and yarn, she’s the talented hands behind a growing crochet business being built one stitch at a time. 
Christine’s journey began in the most heartfelt way… learning to crochet with her nan.

What started as a simple shared skill has blossomed into something much bigger which is a business rooted in nostalgia and creativity. Inspired by her love of rainbows and bright colours, Christine's creations are instantly recognisable for their playful and cheerful energy.

Although she’d been dreaming about starting her business for years, it wasn’t until after her wedding in 2023 that she finally took the leap. With a little more time on her hands and a lot of passion in her heart, she officially began building her brand in April 2024 and hasn’t looked back since.

By day, Christine works as a registered nurse, dedicating her time to caring for others. By evening, she swaps the hospital for her craft desk, spending hours crocheting while listening to true crime podcasts. Her business has become her way to unwind and reset and put something positive back into the world.

Every piece Christine makes is created entirely by hand, often with her trusty 4.5mm crochet hook never far away (she even keeps hooks attached to her keys!). Her dedication shows in the quality and care behind each product, all of which are made using materials that meet strict UK safety standards, ensuring they’re safe for even the littlest customers.

Her bestselling creations, the much-loved “Pocket Puppies,” have captured hearts far and wide and the Wild Venus customers have especially been loving the extremely cute crochet cats! But of course, it’s not just about the products: for Christine, the real magic lies in seeing people’s reactions. Knowing that something she’s made can bring comfort, joy, or a smile is what drives her every day.

Christine regularly trades as Rainbow Yarn Designs at markets across Liverpool and Southport, where her colourful stall draws in curious passersby and loyal returning customers alike. One particularly special moment that will stick with Christine and reminds her why she continues this handmade business is when a customer visited three different markets just to collect the same dinosaur in multiple colours for her son!

Christine’s advice for anyone starting out is refreshingly simple: just go for it.

Perfection can wait as growth happens along the way. It’s a mindset she’s embraced herself, especially while learning to navigate the ever-important world of social media.
At the heart of her brand are two core values: safety and fun. Every stitch is made with care, and every design is created to spark joy. Whether it’s a tiny six-minute bee or a larger showstopping piece, Christine’s work invites you to pause, smile, and appreciate the beauty of something handmade.
